Shinn slipped silently into his room. It was simalar to the one he had shared with Raye back on the Minerva. Simple, the floor, walls and ceiling made of metal paneling. He drifted over to his bed, the floor tapping onder his heels. He sat down on the edge, and held his head in his hands. He sighed in a mixture of annoyance and depression. He wished he ahdn't just left Alpsie. Up until the mention of family, he had been just fine. Besides, it had happened two years ago, that tragic accident. But, ont the other hand, part of him wispered, His sister had been only a girl. Why had such an innocent life been taken? She had done nothing wrong. And yet, the evil souls who started wars lived on. He felt a sudden pang of guilt whenever he thought that if he had just let her get that goddamn phone instead of him, ahe would have lived. But he was glad he went to retrive the phone. He had lived, and that made him feel all the more guilty.

Alpsie followed Selena as she led her to a room.
"I'm certain this is his." She whispered.
Alpsie nodded, "I can sense his presence...shall we knock?"
"NO! Let's just sneak in, ok?"
"And father said my brother was a bad influence." Alpsie said rolling her eyes, "Alright, but this is ONLY to make him feel better."
Selena nodded violently, "Yeah, yeah. Whatever."
Using magic for temporary invisibility, Alpsie and Selena gently pushed open the door.
'I feel so stupid.' Alpsie thought, knowing she would regret this.
Alpsie edged into the room, her footsteps quiet as a mouse.
Selena quickly moved towards Alpsie, 'It's not suspicious that the door opened by itself right?' She hoped.

At the sound of the opened door, Shinns milatary instincts took over. He dove behind the bed, pulling out a gun from beneath his red jacket. It was true, he knew nothing about where he was, but he had enough experience to know someone had intruded upon him. Being a soilder meant that in times like this, emotions were pointless, only obstacles standing in the way of victory and survival. He swicthed of the safety, and held his loaded gun at the ready to shoot th first thing that made so much as a sound.

Selena's invisibility suddenly wore off. "NO!" She yelled.
Alpsie rolled her eyes, 'Wow. that didn't last long.' She thought.
Selena saw his gun, "Eekk! don't shoot! It's just me!!"
'This is embaressing,' Alpsie thought and then her invisibility wore off...

Shinn lowered his gun. "Your lucky... my finger slipped," Shinn sighed. "Why didn't you just knock?" He swicthed the guns safety on again, and put it back in its holster. "Well... uh.. make yourself at home I guess. I'm afraid it's a bit... simplistic." He said sheepishly.

Alpsie shrugged, glaring at Selena, "I don't know, some elves just don't know how."
Selena looked shameful, "I apologize, it was my idea."
Alpsie curtsied gracefully, "My apoligizes as well, I felt bad for your sadness and wished to make you feel better." She kept her eyes of the floor, kicking herself for listening to her body guard. Wouldn't she know better by now?
Selena raised an eyebrow, eyes on Shinn's gun, "Paranoid much?"
"Um...we sneaked in here, remember?"
"Shut up."
Alpsie trusted her instincts, so she knew she wouldn't regret this: "Selena...I believe I have left something in my room. The orange vial, I think. Can you fetch it for me?"
Selena hesitated, even her hair seemed to stiffen.
"Please Selena? It's important."
The body guard nodded and walked out of the room, but not without a piercing glance at Shinn.
She closed the door behind her. Alpsie let out a sigh, alone at last ... well sort of.
"I'm really sorry Shinn, we're not usually this careless. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings if I did. I wanted to be alone so I could talk to you without having to watch what I say. I trust you, but Selena doesn't. She's my body guard though, it's her job to be suspicious ... I suppose." Alpsie blushed, she was talking too much again. What was making her like this?
She fidgetted with her currently red hair, hoping Shinn would accept her apology. Was she being careless again? She thought of the last time she was careless. But that would never happen again.

"I-its fine," Shinn stammered. "I'm sorry I almost shot you..." he glanced around his bedroom. He wasn't used to having girls in his room. He hastily kicked a pile of dirty clothes under his bed before continuing. "I'm sorry for storming off like that...I didn't mean to make you worry it's just..." he closed his eyes for a moment, squeezing the cellphone in his pocket. "It's just really hard for me, because I couldn't do anything... and she was right there..." He turned away from Alpsie. "I'm sorry," he said after a few choked breaths. "It's silly for a boy my age to be acting like this."

Alpsie put her hand on Shinn's shoulder; she wasn't sure what to tell him. She had lived through a lot of heartbreaks, but she had dealt with it in her own way. Grief ate away most of her, leaving only what she was now.
"I know...believe it or not I know how you feel..." Alpsie whispered, "Except, it was my dad..." She was disgusted with how calm her voice was, like there was no emotion left. She had once been a normal teenager, well as normal as any teen could be, but being left alone in a castle all these years can cause some emotional misfunctions and some insanity as well. She wanted to regain what she lost, perhaps interaction with other people could help.
Selena still hadn't returned, which was odd yet strangely pleasing at the same time.
"But, over time you'll feel better." Alpsie added on a happier note, "You just need to talk about it and don't push people away." She gave him a reassuring smile, curious to how old he was anyways. Should she ask? No! He was upset! It was best to comfort him for now.

Shinn laughed coldly. "Stop pushing people away huh?" Shinn asked, turning towards Alpsie. "Well, the first person to become close to me after my family died in my arms. Another one I took for dead, but ended up betraying me. Yet another is dead, he died on a suicide misson. And the last one is on the brink of insanity. I don't know how it looks to you, but I'm not very lucky when it comes to 'friends'. As a matter of fact you may want to stay away from me, before something horrible happens to you too." He frowned, looking away from Alpsie. "Sorry..." he mumbled.

The elf's eyes narrowed, her expression darkened. An odd sight to see Alpsie angry, even of the tiniest (sp.?) bit. "I've been told to stay away far too many times to oblige." She hissed, "That was my father's dying words. I thought if I..." She stopped, her anger still there, but she felt as if she was choking on the words, "If I didn't fight," She continued, "I could stop history repeating itself, but I only made it worse." She dug her nails into the palms of her hand, "I lost a good friend of mine because of my cowardice! I lost parents to war and my older sister to insanity. Then my brother leaves me to take care of the kingdom myself!" Alpsie startled. She had finally said something she wasn't supposed to. She tried to act like she said nothing. "I know what going through hell is like! I've lived most of my miserable immortal life a lie! Without any friends or family!" She took a deep breath, regaining control, "Now I'm sorry, I had a sudden outburst of anger. That doesn't happen very often." She glared at Shinn, "So if you don't want me to be your friend, fine. But I wanted to let you know that I don't care what happens to me anymore. Don't give up on friendship, being alone is the worst thing to endure. Expecially if you have an eternity to dwell on it." Alpsie sighed, she never should have got angry like that. She even blurted something she shouldn't have. Humans were not stupid, he would probably start having guesses at who she was. Wait, there was something she wanted to still ask, "How old are you anyways?"

"I'm sixteen." He answered quietly. He looked down in shame. In his short life, bad things had happened to him, but none could compare to an immortal life alone. Left to care for so many people. He knew what it was like, to have the fate of the whole world resting on your shoulders. He had experinced in shorts bursts. When he was called upon to fight for what was right, and a few times, he suspected, for what was wrong. But this girl had lived far longer than himself, and had the fate of her own people to burden. Yet she was trying to cheer him up. And he was acting like a fool.

Alpsie nodded, "I thought you looked around that age. I'm 5 004, but in human years I'm about 14. I haven't really aged beyond that point in my life."
She wrapped her white cloak tighter around her. Selena wasn't back yet, and it was starting to worry her. She checked her magic level, it was pretty high, but it was only good for healing.
"So, I am older than you as an elf, but would be younger if human." She added, "But, I probably have less fighting experience than you. Which may be hard to believe, but it's possibly true."
'You're breaking so many rules telling this boy all this.' Her conscience reminded her.
Her communication device beeped. She took it out and checked it. It was Selena telling her that she couldn't find the vial, but she found something else. She didn't mention what it was. Alpsie put the communicator away like nothing happened.

( I'm changing some things on Alpsie's file, just to let you know tongue )

Shinn curiously eyed the communicater, but said nothing. "No surpirise there," Shinn told as politley as he could. (Whitch was odd for him.) "I was... well, 'created' to be a soilder. To be better than any natural. Any human." He fingered the collar of his shirt, seemingly deep in thought. His eyes refocused. "So, what did Selena go to get anyway?" He asked.

Alpsie smiled weakly, a soldier. Humans seemed so similar to the magic folk it was almost frightening.
"Oh, I just told Selena to get a potion for me that acts like an energy drink." Alpsie explained, "It enhances your magic power and energy when we're low on it."
She sighed, "Once we came here I've been feeling tired and I just thought that it would be best if I took some of the potion now just in case. Besides that, however, I just wanted Selena off my back for a while."
The communicator made a beeping noise.
"Huh?" She whispered, not quite sure how to work the small piece of technology. She took it out again. Selena had posted: 'I'm coming back over now with this strange object. I think you should see it.'
Alpsie relaxed a little, there was no way Selena would show her something that may be a serious threat.
"How do I turn this thing off?" She asked, looking at it up and down. It looked like a normal cellphone, just a bit smaller and thinner. That's because that's actually what it was grin

Shinn fought the sudden urge to roll his eyes. He moved so he was beside Alpsie, peering at the little phone. "Just press this little button on the side..." He flicked the off swicth. "Of course, I'm sure there's a way your supossed to turn it off on the menu or whatever, but manually is alot easier. You might also want to know that it won't ring while it's off, so flicking the swicth in the opposite direction will turn it on, and closing it will allow you to put it away and wait for calls from other people." He looked down at her, hoping she understood all that.
